This evening RVFD along with Sta.600 (Greensboro), Talbot Co. Sta.80 (QAHVFC), Sta.300 (Denton), And Caroline DES PM-14 were alerted for a reported shed fire at 12943 Mason Branch Road. As Chief-4 (A/C Gunderson) checked up on the air Communications advised that multiple calls were being received, believing that this was a working incident. Chief-4 arrived to find a two car detached garage was fully involved, and established "Mason Branch Command". After a quick size up of the entire structure, it was found that the fire had extended into the residence. Eng.401 (Capt.Jarboe w/6) arrived and stretched two attack lines with one being deployed to the garage, and the other to Side Alpha of the residence. Light conditions were found to be on the first floor, with moderate smoke conditions in the attic area. Initial crews made an aggressive attack in the residence, halting the fire to the kitchen area, with only moderate damage. Eng.405 (Capt. Marvel) arrived and had his crew assist in overhauling the residence as well as the garage.
As other crews arrived, they were assigned to salvage and overhaul, and ventilation. Command placed the situation under control, and requested the Maryland State Fire Marshal for the investigation. One Firefighter was transported to Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, treated and released. Good job to the first in crews, as well to the neighboring companies.
